Friday Feature: A Russian-Irish Success Story, Singer Songwriter Larissa Tormey

Larissa Tormey is a Russian born, Ireland based singer-songwriter. Larissa moved to Ireland thirteen years ago. (She may have fallen in love with an Irish farmer but we don’t want to share too many secrets!)

Ireland

When Larissa moved here, like many people who come here, she had no English but over the years became very accustomed to Irish life and about a year ago, she returned to her other love, the music!

Larissa’s approach is a beautiful one, “I grew up in the middle of pine forest in Russia and started to write music when I was 6. Ireland inspired me to write in English. I am living a positive life: I meditate, I move, I eat healthy and all my music is about love! And I just finished recording my first album in The Ventry Studios, Balbriggan with producer Dave McCune.”

At YouBloom Festival in Dublin this year she was also marked as one of the best upcoming acts of the year.

As a nice little Friday treat, you can listen to/watch Larissa share her story of her experience moving from a busy city life in Moscow, to a rural Irish life here. We’ve all been through big changes, and hearing someone else share their story can make it easier to know you’re not the only one going through the challenges and joys of beginning a new life.

And for that Friday feeling, check out one of her recent live performances in the video below.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Larissa!
